Mateo, the son of Karime Borja, passed away on September 17, 2024, after three years in which he was constantly fighting for his life after drowning in a pool.
His life was marked by a harrowing accident that occurred on November 21, 2021, when he was only 2-year-old.
Mateo fell into a swimming pool and was submerged without vital signs for 15 minutes before being successfully resuscitated by medical professionals.
This critical incident led to a diagnosis of Immersion Ischemic Hypoxia, a severe brain condition resulting from a lack of oxygen.
Following the accident, Mateo spent eight months in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), undergoing extensive treatment.
