Being born a creek baby, she cherished spending time with her family in the mountains, engaging in activities such as wading in creeks, climbing on rocks, and foraging for berries and mushrooms with her grandmother.

During her high school years, Stephanie had the fortune of meeting Nick Van Dyke, who would become the love of her life.

They shared a deep passion for the mountains and enjoyed various outdoor activities, including off-roading, fishing, camping, and shooting.

Their shared love for nature further strengthened their bond.

Sadly, Stephanie’s life was marked by a lifelong battle with Chronic Variable Immune Deficiency, a challenging health condition.

On October 24, 2012, Stephanie’s journey ended, leaving behind cherished memories for her family, friends, and loved ones.

Her parents’s presence and influence undoubtedly shaped Stephanie into the remarkable person she was, emphasizing her love for nature and the mountains.

The extended family includes Stephanie’s father-in-law, Richard Van Dyke, and mother-in-law, Julie Murray, from Texas, as well as her brother-in-law, Dick Van Dyke, sister-in-law, Danielle Van Dyke, and nephew, Trevon Van Dyke.

Stephanie was also cherished by her grandparents, Robert and Linda Travis from Wisconsin, and her grandmother, Barbara Kirkland.

Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, too many to name individually, share in the grief of her passing.

Furthermore, the family expresses deep gratitude to Dr. Weiner, the exceptional staff at the cancer treatment center, and the dedicated healthcare professionals on the oncology floor.

Their loving care and support during Stephanie’s stay significantly impacted her life.

Stephanie Van Dyke’s family and loved ones will forever hold her in their hearts, cherishing the memories they shared and the love she brought into their lives.

Stephanie Van Dyke, a compassionate and dedicated individual, tragically had her life cut short.

As she pursued her medical residency, Stephanie recognized a pressing need closer to her community.

Driven by her belief in the power of medicine, she extended her education beyond an M.D. degree to obtain an M.P.H. from Johns Hopkins University.

With this knowledge and passion, she co-founded The Sky Lakes Wellness Center in Klamath Falls, Oregon, aiming to improve the well-being of those in need.

Stephanie’s untimely passing leaves a void, but her legacy of passion, kindness, and unwavering determination to improve the world can continue to inspire us all.

A memorial service was held at St. Peter’s Episcopal Cathedral in Helena, Montana, on October 28, 2012.

Her ashes were interred in the church’s columbarium wall after the service. A reception was held to honor her memory.

Instead of flowers, memorial contributions were suggested to St. Peter’s Cancer Treatment Center, St. Peter’s Cathedral, or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Stephanie was preceded in death by her grandmother, Blanche Travis; her grandfather, Robert Kirkland; her uncles, Bobby Travis, Joseph Keller, Paul Kirkland, and cousin Joseph Keller.
