Morris Wortman, a renowned OB-GYN based in western New York. He gained significant attention throughout his career due to his involvement in a controversial lawsuit and encounters with anti-abortion activists.
The lawsuit, filed against him in 2021, alleged fraud and malpractice initiated by a Geneseo woman. She accused Wortman of artificially inseminating her mother and other infertility patients under his care during the 1980s.
The doctor earned suma cum laude from Brooklyn College in 1972 before obtaining his medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine in 1976.
In 1982, he earned board certification as an OB-GYN and assumed the role of chief of obstetrics and gynecology at the Genesee Valley Group Health Association. However, in 1986, he ventured out to establish his practice.
Throughout his career, he was recognized for introducing several innovative techniques in gynecology, specifically in minimally invasive surgery (MIS) and office-based surgery.

In a tragic incident on Sunday, Wortman, a renowned fertility doctor, died in a plane crash. The flight involved an experimental homemade aircraft, which ultimately crashed in Orleans County, resulting in the demise of Doctor and the pilot, Earl Luce Jr.
The county sheriff confirmed this heartbreaking news.
According to a press release issued by Orleans County Sheriff Christopher Bourke, the investigation’s initial findings suggest that the aircraft’s wings became detached from the fuselage during the flight.
Subsequently, The wings fell to the ground and landed in an orchard. Meanwhile, the plane’s fuselage continued its westward trajectory for approximately 1,000 to 1,500 yards before crashing into a field behind a residential area.
In response to this devastating incident, the National Transportation Safety Board promptly dispatched its personnel to the scene. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is planning to begin its investigation on Tuesday to put light on the circumstances surrounding this tragic aircraft disaster.

The renowned fertility doctor, Dr. Morris, aged 72, and the experienced pilot, Earl Luce Jr., aged 70, lost their lives in a devastating plane crash.
The plane crash occurred when Wortman and Earl Luce Jr. flew in an experimental fixed-wing aircraft. Tragically, the aircraft crashed in a pasture behind a house in Ridgeway, west of Townline Road, shortly before 5:45 p.m. on a Sunday.
Doctor respected OB-GYN from Rochester was a well-known figure in western New York. Throughout his career, he faced constant scrutiny from anti-abortion protesters due to his controversial practices.
One such incident led to a lawsuit in 2021 filed by the daughter of one of his patients. The lawsuit revealed that the doctor had allegedly used his sperm without consent, misleading the patient by claiming it was from a local medical student.
This secret was hidden even after the daughter, who turned out to be his biological child, became his gynecology patient.
Over the past 18 months, numerous individuals have presented similar allegations against the doctor. These individuals claim that during the 1980s, when they desired fertility treatment from the doctor, he covertly used his sperm, thereby committing what is often referred to as “fertility fraud.”
As the community mourns the loss of doctor and Earl Luce Jr., investigations into the cause of the accident are set to commence on Tuesday.
