Lucy Jane Blackman, aka Lucie,” was a British woman from Sevenoaks, Kent. She worked as a hostess in Tokyo, having previously been a flight attendant for British Airways.

In response to the widespread publicity, British residents living in Japan set up and staffed an information hotline.
Additionally, an anonymous businessman funded a substantial reward of £100,000 for any information that could lead to finding the missing woman.
During this period, three foreign women came forward with accounts of waking up feeling unwell and sore in the bed of Joji Obara, a Japanese businessman who frequented Roppongi.
They had reported Obara to the Roppongi police, but their complaints were disregarded.
As the investigation progressed, police made connections between various cases involving the man known as Nishita and Obara.
Jane’s body was discovered on February 9, 2001, in a beach cave in Miura, Kanagawa, some 50 kilometers (31 miles) south of Tokyo and close to Obara’s residence, buried in a shallow grave beneath a bathtub.
The state of her decomposition made it challenging to ascertain the cause of her death.
Her body had been dismembered into ten pieces, each placed in separate bags, and her head had been shaved and encased in concrete.
Joji was indicted for his involvement in the case, with the prosecution alleging that he drugged and raped the British woman before killing her at a condominium in Zushi.
The perpetrator, however, maintained his innocence, claiming that she voluntarily self-administered the drugs.
