The grandfather of Bennet is Buddy Bennet, who also played quarterback for South Carolina Gamecocks between 1958 to 1960. Buddy was a coach too.
His grandfather Buddy Bennet was native to Jesup, Georgia and played quarterback leading the Gamecocks in 1960. His coaching career of Buddy started at Waycross High school, then at Georgia Tech, and later at South Caroline in the college ranks.
In 2016 Buddy Bennett, grandfather of Stetson Bennet IV, died at the age of 78 in his family home in Screven, Georgia. Even after the death of more than six years and more than five decades following one season stayed on Rocky Top, Coach Buddy Bennett and his Bandits are still distinguished in the football lore of Tennessee.
