Who Is Emma Wilander? Meet Mats Wilander Daughter And Family

Emma Wilander is the daughter of Mats Wilander and Sonya Wilander. She gained fame as a Nepo kid as her parents are known personalities. 

Emma’s Father is a former professional tennis player. Mats shot to fame, winning major singles and doubles titles.

Wilander has won singles titles in several competitions, including Australian Open, the French Open, and the US Open.

He started his professional tennis career in 1980. His debut match was at a clay court competition in Bastad, Sweden.

In 1982, Wilander, 17, won the French Open. The title highlighted his unexpected breakthrough. Similarly, he finished No.4 and won two Grand Prix Championship Series in 1983, along with eight other competitions.

Wilander has retired from his tennis career. He now works as Sweden’s Davis Cup team’s captain. Also, he is Eurosport’s tennis commentator.

Wilander’s wife, Sonya, serves as the Executive director of Mens Second Chance Living. The two first met in 1985 at the US Open.

Meet Mats Wilander Daughter, Emma Wilander

Emma Wilander was born to Mats and Sonya Wilander. The former tennis champion’s daughter finished schooling at Sun Valley Community School.

Emma frequently attends several championship events with her Father, Mats. Besides her strong educational background, she shows interest in her Father’s sports career. 

Speaking of Emma’s graduation, she completed her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Montana-Missoula in 2016.

Emma’s mother, Sonya, enjoys spending time with her daughter as she attended her daughter’s graduation ceremony on 15 May 2016.

Completing her education, Emma joined her Father, spending a few days with him at the 2018 US Open. Perhaps, she is fond of tennis Championships.

Wilander has a family of six people, her two parents and three siblings. Her parents, Mats Wilander and Sonya Wilander, tied the knot on 3 January 1987. The lovely duo planned their wedding venue in Durban, South Africa.

Emma’s mother, Sonya, is from Zambia. She grew up in the coastal city of Durban, South Africa. Her mom moved from Durban to New York and worked as a high-end fashion model at 18.

Sonya has appeared as an advertisement model. The cover magazine model has worked in the United States, Europe, and Australia.

Her LinkedIn account suggests that she now works for Men’s Second Chance Living.

Speaking of Emma’s Father, Mats Wilander, is from Sweden. The Swedish-origin player moved from Connecticut to Sun Valley, Idaho, when he was 10.

Her Father began playing tennis at six in a parking lot next to the factory where her grandfather used to work.

Likewise, Emma has two uncles, Ingmar Wilander and Anders Wilander. One of her uncles, Andrers, is a former Tranas Municipality’s Mayor. He served in the Mayor’s position from 2006 to 2020. 

Moreover, Emma has three siblings, Erik, Oskar, and Karl Wilander. Her three brothers are involved in sports careers. 

Emma’s eldest sibling Erik Wilander is an ice-hockey player. He was diagnosed with Epidermolysis Bullosa at 13. According to health experts, the hereditary condition makes the skin extremely sensitive to humid environments.

Erik finished high school at Wood River High School. Further, he attended Montana State University. 

Regarding her next sibling, Karl Wilander is more inspired by his Father’s career. So, he chose to become a tennis player. He plays college tennis and the best singles in Southern Idaho.

Similarly, Emma’s junior sibling, Oskar Wilander, attended River High School. He was the former president of the Model United Nations Club.

Oskar became interested in history when he found his sister Emma’s Ancient History textbook. He was nine when he developed his passion. Similarly, he likes playing tennis and ice hockey, just like the rest of his family members.
