Russell Watson Hair Transplant

English Tenor Russell Watson lost a lot of hair due to brain tumors.

Recently 57-year-old, Watson broke down in tears on The One Show as he was surprised by a video message from the doctor who treated him when he had a brain tumor.

Highlights

  • Russell Watson became emotional during a segment in The One Show when his consultant shared a heartfelt message about his brain tumor.
  • Watson has not revealed whether he had a hair transplant or was wearing a wig.
  • Doctors said that his brain tumor was equal to the size of two golf balls.

The renowned opera singer joined Alex Jones and Roman Kemp to talk about his triumphant return to the music scene after a battle with illness.

Watson started his interview by striking in with Hollywood legend Will Ferell, celebrating about his memorable vocal performance in Step Brothers.

He then delved into the impact of his health struggles on his career.

After 25 sessions of radiotherapy, he revealed the impact was still there and openly discussed his experience with depression.

Alex and Roman presented him with a heartfelt message for his consultant, Mr Lackett, which brought him to tears. Mr Lackett said,

“17 years on from that brave decision to have the surgery, and look what a glittering career you’ve had in between, “We’re thrilled for you. Well done, Russell.”

Russell Watson Lost His Hair But Didn’t Underwent Transplant

Russell Watson has always been conscious of his appearance, dressing well and staying trim. But, all that was cleared away after his second operation. He said

My hair had all fallen out in clumps, I ballooned to 18 or 19 stone because of the steroids I was taking. I looked in the mirror and I was almost unrecognisable.”

Watson also mentioned that he was almost bald and looked like a Friar Tuck, the tritagonist in Disney’s 1973 animated feature film Robin Hood.

His confidence had been shattered, and getting back on stage in front of thousands of people became a big challenge for him.

However, whether he had a hair transplant or wore a wig to regain his previous look is unknown. One of his regular viewers speculated that he had done a hair transplant. He said

Been watching the show this year and I’m pretty sure hes had a HT but cant find anything online……I did find he had lost a lot of hair after beating two brain tumours so it could very well be that he has had work done.

Another fan posted,

I think his hair looks a little thin to be honest. My wife said “he needs a HT” while watching it the other night. His hair line does give the impression he’s had something done though

Just over a year later, in October 2007, his vision deteriorated as his tumor returned to his pituitary gland, which was bleeding into his train.

Days after the MRI scan, he underwent another emergency procedure in Cheadle’s Alexandra Hospital and later recovered with an extensive rehabilitation program. He said,

‘My diagnosis changed everything – all I could think about was how my wife and daughters would survive without me. ‘It was difficult to see beyond my illness at the time, but to be alive and healthy 15 years later is something I’m eternally grateful for. ‘Often when we are writing wills we think about those closest to us. But a will, much like a piece of music, has the power to touch the lives of so many more. ‘I want others to receive the kind of life-saving treatment that I did, to give that gift of time for which I’m so grateful every day.’

Doctors told him he would never sing in the same way again. He was determined to achieve something impossible, fight back to recovery, and find his voice again.
