The incident occurred on February 14, 2018, when Nikolas Cruz, a 19-year-old, shot and killed 17 individuals.
On October 20, 2021, Cruz pleaded guilty to all accusations against him and expressed regret for his acts.
Cruz was given a sentence of life in prison without the chance of parole on November 2, 2022, following the legal requirements of Florida, as a result of the recommendation made by the jury.
