Even after being okay with a walking boot, Gretchen’s recovery was far from over.

Yet, she took on one of the most demanding performances of her career: The Masked Singer, which was a test for her singing career.

It was a real chance for me to be able to prove to myself whether I’ve still got it. If I should be thinking about the next 10 years professionally, or the next 10 years in retirement.

The answer came spectacularly.

Gretchen, disguised as the dazzling “Pearl,” not only competed but won Season 13 of The Masked Singer, outshining fellow finalists Andy Grammer (Boogie Woogie), Meg Donnelly (Coral), and Brian Kelley (Mad Scientist Monster).

Her reveal stunned the panel, with Robin Thicke correctly guessing her identity, sealing her triumphant return to the spotlight.

Furthermore, Gretchen admitted she had been approached multiple times to join the show but hesitated. She confessed to being too old and worried about her chances, but the timing aligned perfectly with her journey.

The Masked Singer came at just the perfect time in her life this time, when she was getting through some health issues, trying to reinvent herself, and seeing how many more years she had in the business.

I don’t usually do things that are just far outside of my character. But man, once I got there and I realized the hard work and just how truly kind of a badass you really have to be in order to do this show, then I was in it to win it.
