George Strait daughter jennifer passed away in a car accident
The King of Country Music and his wife were in high school when they first met.
Before George joined the US Army and was assigned to Hawaii, the pair eloped in Mexico on December 4, 1971, after dating intermittently for a few years.
According to Country Now, when the couple returned to the United States, they also held a minor wedding ceremony at a church in their hometown of Pearsall, Texas.
Moreover, George has celebrated their wedding anniversary on Instagram on several occasions throughout the years.
In 1972, Jenifer Lynn Strait, George and Norma’s first child together, was born. In 1981, George “Bubba” Strait Jr., their son, was born.
Norma raised Bubba at home while George was on tour for his singing career.

However, Jenifer passed away in a vehicle accident in 1986 at the age of 13.
When Jennifer’s car flipped while taking a turn as she was travelling, she was in the passenger seat. She was declared deceased at the spot and was not wearing any seatbelt.
In the year 2012, George stated,
“We were blessed to have been able to spend 13 years with our beautiful daughter Jenifer.”
In 1986, Norma and George founded the Jenifer Strait Memorial Foundation, which “focuses its donations on various nonprofit organizations and promotes charitable causes for children.”
