Teens, and a Collinsville, Illinois, man named Joshua Chapman, died in a two-vehicle deadly collision in December 2023 in Scheller, Illinois.
On Saturday noon, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported that they received a case regarding a two-vehicle head-on collision at the North Pulsar Lane and East DuBois Road intersection.
The crash occurred near Scheller, an isolated rural area in Jefferson County, just southwest of Waltonville.
As suggested by the preliminary reports, a 2017 Buick crossed the centerline, sticking a 2023 Chevrolet head-on, leaving a deadly incident to witness.
Reportedly, Buick’s driver and passenger were trapped inside the car and were pronounced dead at the scene.
Moreover, the concerned authorities of the area identified the driver of the Buick as Bryce Middleton and the passenger as Hayden Lence. The two were 20 years old, Middleton from DuBois, and the other from Herrin.
Sadly, the one driving the Chevrolet was also pronounced dead at the scene and was identified as Joshua Chapman. The 37-year-old man was from Collinsville.
Quickly, the passenger in the Chevrolet was shifted to a St. Louis-area hospital in critical condition.

As suggested on Joshua Chapman’s Facebook handle, he was the owner of CFT Performance Custom Fabrication in Maryville. His venture is a metal fabrication, powder coating, and laser engraving business.
Chapman’s business also sold and resold firearms.
Sadly, the Collinsville man lost his life in a rural Jefferson County crash. The 37-year-old was driving a 2023 Chevrolet pickup truck, as the another vehicle crossed the center line and hit him head-on.
As suggested by a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department release and representative Coroner Roger Hayse, there was a survivor, who traveled in Chapman’s car as a passenger.
Reportedly, the passenger is a 32-year-old adult whose name has not been released. The lone survivor is from Crystal Lake, Illinois. Hayse said:
The survivor was transported to a St. Louis Hospital in an unknown state. We do not know the man’s condition as of Wednesday afternoon.
