Ivie was a close friend of Bonnie Kennedy. He is a fellow Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints member.

The two last met on Mother’s Day, which he described as enjoyable and filled with conversation. Ivie was a generous woman; her kind-heartedness touched the lives of several community members in Farmington.

Ivie and her mother, 97-year-old Gwendolyn Schofield, were present at the time of the Farmington mass shooting.

Sadly, Ivie and her mother Schofield were shot during the tragic incident. The fact added yet another sadness layer to the loss experienced in this devastating event. 

Less than a day after the visit, Melody Ivie and her 97-year-old mother, Schofield, were tragically shot and killed en route to pick up a grandchild from school.
