Boybits Victoria, born Emmanuel “Boybits” Victoria, was a professional basketball player from the Philippines. He was the best Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) guard player in the 1990s.

Emmanuel was an outstanding PBA player who played for franchises RFM and San Miguel Beerman and a basketball legend who served as an inspiration to people not only in the Philippines but all over the world. He played for the college team San Beda Red Lions before joining the PBA.

The basketball player earned the Rookie of the Year award in 1994 after a phenomenal college career at San Beda, which ultimately led to Swift selecting him third overall in the PBA draft.

On March 1st, 2023, news of Victoria’s passing broke after he passed away suddenly from a heart attack at the San Juan de Dios Hospital in Pasay, Philippines. At the time of his death, he was 50 years old.

Boybits has two children: a son named Nathan and a daughter named Ciaz. Speaking of his son Nathan, he is pursuing a basketball career in the same manner as his father.

He currently attends Saint Benilde College, where he is very active and participates in events as a representative of his college. The former PBA player motivated his son to play basketball from a young age, recognizing his desire to become a remarkable player like him.

Following his father’s death, Nathan shared a heartfelt message through a Facebook post. He wrote, “Rest well up there, dad, you have nothing else to do except watch me grow into who I’m supposed to be. Will always dedicate everything to you.”

He continues to share old Facebook posts from his father on social media, showing how much he cherishes him.

The former professional basketball athlete was married to Cielo Velasquez Aquino, who was his longtime girlfriend and college sweetheart. The couple had been married for more than two decades.

Since January 3, 2023, she has served as the project lead for Federal Land, Inc.’s luxury brand customer service group. From April 4, 2018, to December 31, 2022, she was the Customer Relations Department Head at ACM Homes.

Cielo attended the Global City Innovative College in addition to the University of the Philippines, where she earned a BS in mathematics.

They were a low-key couple who preferred to keep their marital and personal affairs private. The couple were well-respected parents who showed a lot of love and support for one another and their children.

Additionally, she posted on Facebook about the specifics of her husband’s cremation, which took place on March 7, 2023.

Boybits Victoria Illness Revealed

In 2018, Victoria was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome, an autoimmune disorder. He experienced a heart attack on February 14, 2023, and was later found to have an acute myocardial infarction. And as was already mentioned, after receiving his diagnosis, he experienced a second heart attack, which ultimately led to his demise.

At 6:55 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, Boybits was pronounced dead. 

The untimely death of the legendary basketball player saddened a lot of people. His fans and family are grieving as a result of the tragic news that has left a trail of sorrow.

The sportsman’s cremation ceremony was attended by a large number of his fans and admirers who wanted to bid him farewell.

After Emmanuel’s passing, the Philippine people and the entire basketball community are in mourning.

On Facebook, one of his family members wrote, “You are always loved and never forgotten, May your soul rest in peace, My beloved cousin.”

Additionally, a user wrote, “My condolences to the whole Victoria family.” Teammate, friend, coach, and a good father. Rest in paradise, my idol. one of my first closest friends in San Beda Days in basketball. “Gone too soon, and you will be remembered.”
