A man accused of attacking an MP’s sister, Anna Chaney, has faced a Perth court. Likewise, she was attacked at a medical center.

Doctor Anna Chaney is the sister of Member for Curtin Kate Chaney. Unfortunately, she was allegedly attacked by Christopher Bernard Healey just around 9 am 28 September.

The tragedy occurred at View Street Medical in North Perth. Likewise, the public had to intervene to stop the attack.

Chaney was assisted by patients and staff inside the clinic. Also, she was transported to Royal Perth Hospital with severe injuries.

Healey has not applied for bail. Likewise, he is back in court at the end of October. Fortunately, Chaney is now in a stable condition.

Anna Chaney Axe Attack

Kate Chaney’s sister, Anna Chaney, was attacked at the medical center where she worked.

Likewise, the alleged attacker was restrained by bystanders. Dr. Chaney remains in the hospital with severe but non-life-threatening injuries.

Allegedely, she was attacked by Christopher Bernard Healey. Likewise, he was accused of going to the practice at about 8:45 a.m. on Thursday, and he carried an axe.

Eventually, he executed his plan and attacked Dr Chaney before bystanders. Likewise, one of her patients intervened and detained him.

The alleged stalking came into play more than a three-and-a-half-year period from March 2020 to 28 September 2023.

Dr Chaney issued a statement after the incident and thanked the police, the ambulance staff, and her colleagues at the medical practice for their support. She wrote:

I am in a stable condition and am being well looked after. Also, I won’t make further comments as a police investigation is underway. My family and I ask for privacy while I recover.

Moreover, Chaney said she especially wanted to thank her patient, whom she described as “bravely” saving her.

Anna Chaney is the daughter of Michael Chaney. Likewise, Michael is an Australian businessman. Moreover, she is the niece of former Federal Liberal MP Fred Chaney.

Where Is Suspect Christopher Bernard Healey Now?

55-year-old man Christopher Bernard Healey has faced court accused of stalking and attempting to murder Anna Chaney, the sister of federal MP Kate Chaney.

Reportedly, he attacked her at the Perth medical practice where she worked.

Anna Chaney worked as a doctor at the View Street Medical Centre. She now remains in Royal Perth Hospital with what are believed to be severe but not life-threatening injuries.

Mr Healey was charged with attempted murder, aggravated burglary, and possessing a controlled weapon. Also, he was armed in a way that may cause fear.

Healey also faces a count of aggravated stalking in relation to Dr Chaney.

The accused appeared briefly in the Perth Magistrates Court, wearing a police-issued white forensic jumpsuit.

Also, attempted murderer Healey did not apply for bail. Likewise, was remanded in custody until his next court appearance.
